Seoul may take inspiration from Singapore's public housing playbook.
On his visit to Singapore this week, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon toured the country’s landmark public housing projects.
The Mayor showed particular interest in the recently launched Prime Location Public Housing (PLH), which supplies new public housing built in prime, central locations, like the city center, with affordable prices.
"Seoul will… work to supply high-quality public houses in the city center and the station areas, and not the outskirts of the city, for newlywed couples, young people and rookies," he said.
Mr Oh also visited The Marina One Residences- a white site, which is a plot of land where a range of uses is allowed, such as for a combination of commercial, hotel, residential, sports and recreational spaces.
He announced he has made a request to the government on a similar multiple-purpose urban development which he intends to apply to places like Yongsan or Sewoon Redevelopment Promotion Area, in Jongno District, central Seoul.
