South Korea joins digital trade agreement founded by Singapore, New Zealand and Chile

South Korea recently joined the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement (Depa) as its fourth member, alongside Singapore, New Zealand, and Chile. Depa, effective since January 2021, focuses on regulations for digital trade, aiming to facilitate economic collaborations in areas like digital identities and cross-border data flows.

South Korea's accession underscores the agreement's open and inclusive nature and expands its reach for greater collaboration. Singapore and South Korea expressed hopes for Depa's continued openness and South Korea's role as a bridge between existing and new members.

These agreements pursued by Singapore aim to enhance business connectivity and provide easier access to overseas markets.
