South Korea consumer sentiment dips due to food inflation

South Korea saw a sharp decline in consumer sentiment in March due to concerns about rising produce prices, which has become a key issue ahead of the upcoming elections.

The consumer sentiment index fell to 100.7 from 101.9 in February, marking the largest monthly drop since October. Experts attribute the inflation to supply-side pressures, particularly higher agricultural prices.

Despite government efforts such as subsidies and tariff reductions, many consumers express doubts about the efficacy of these measures and call for more substantial support to stabilize prices and improve livelihoods.
