Board of Director's Profile

Sonny Sunghoon Im is co-chair of International Practice Group of DR&AJU who mainly focuses on cross-border corporate transactions, M&As, dispute resolutions and in/outbound investments in particular. Sonny has also been acting as external counselor of the Ministry of Justice of Korea on International Investment Disputes since 2014.

Sonny graduated cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law at Urbana- Champaign as Juris Doctor, and subsequently graduated from Georgetown University Law Center as Masters of Laws (LL. M. in Taxation) prior to joining DR&AJU.

Back in 2007 and 2008, Sonny worked as head of Korea desk of DR&AJU + Taylor Wessing Vienna alliance during which time he strengthened his capabilities to work with both Korean and international clients by cooperating closely with Taylor Wessing, a global law firm which has over 1,000 lawyers and 28 offices across Europe, the Middle Eastand Asia. He also assisted DR&AJU to become a co-founding member of ASEAN Plus, a group of law firms based in 16 Asian countries, created to meet the legal demands of the Asian region, undoubtedly the next economic and cultural center of the world.

Likewise, Sonny and his international practice group of DR&AJU are capable of providing one-stop legal services domestically and internationally to both Korean and international clients.
